HBO/Showtime LAS [31 Aug 2010|08:46pm]

All ships allowed!

Do You Like To Write?

Like to write? Love any of the shows on the HBO and/or Showtime Networks? Great! There is a new challenge, called hboshowtime_las, where you write a fanfic of at least 100 words every two weeks based on a different prompt. Then they get voted on and the person with the least votes is out that week and the person with the most is safe next week. Till you have one author standing who wins! What do you win? A snazzy graphic and a $10 GC to Amazon or Barnes & Noble. You don't even need to be a GREAT writer!

... who will come out on top?

A woman who lived a polygamous lifestyle has written a book about her experiences.

"Just as A Mormon Motheris the standout memoir of a 19th-century polygamous woman's life, this autobiography offers the compelling voice of a contemporary plural wife's experiences. Daughter of a second wife, Spencer was raised strictly in "the Principle" as it was lived secretly and illegally by fringe communities of Mormon "fundamentalists"-groups that split off from the LDS Church when it abandoned polygamy more than a century ago. In spite of her mother's warnings and the devotion of a boyfriend with monogamist intentions, Spencer followed her religious convictions-that living in polygamy was essential for eternal salvation-and became a second wife herself at the age of 16 in 1953. It's hard to tell which is more devastating in this memoir: the strains of husband-sharing with-ultimately-nine other wives, or the unremitting poverty that came with maintaining so many households and 56 children. Spencer's writing is lively and full of engaging dialogue, and her life is nothing short of astonishing. After 28 years of polygamous marriage, Spencer has lived the last 19 years in monogamy. Her story will be emotional and shocking, but many readers will resonate with the universal question the memoir raises: how to reconcile inherited religious beliefs when they grate against social norms and the deepest desires of the heart. Bill's mum [17 Aug 2007|02:14am]

Something i noticed that was kinda neat since i love both shows. Grace Zabriskie who plays Bill's mom also played Laura Palmer's mother in the Twin Peaks series.

It's Official! Big Love Returns June 17 at 8 pm [25 Mar 2007|03:19pm]

[ mood | happy ]

I posted this over at _big_love

Alright people, HBO has finally released their summer schedule and our show is indeed coming back in June. So all those August rumors were false (thank God).

On June 17, "John" will slide into the 9:00/8:00c hour where it will be bookended by season two of "Big Love" at 8:00/7:00c and season four of "Entourage" at 10:00/9:00c.

8 pm seems kind of early, doesn't it? Maybe the early time means less of Bill Paxton's butt.

Multi-Fandom RP [10 Aug 2006|11:06pm]

[ mood | nervous ]

Welcome to Camp Nowhere. The camp without adults, without rules, without a drinking age.
Camp Nowhere is a role play game that welcomes any character from any fandom imaginable. Characters must be between 12 and 17, or in other words, kids who just got out of 6th to ones about to go into 12th. Making characters older or younger than they really are is just peachy keen. Want to play Giles as a 12-year-old? Go right ahead! Want to play baby Stewie at 17? No problem! There's a few measley rules to keep everything nice and clean, and one adult to keep up appearances and help us mods out. So why don't you wander over and take a look. Read the rules, look at the characters already taken, think about which character you'd like to play partying it up at a no-rules no-adults summer camp, then apply! Right now, there are no Big Love characters taken. Feel free to sign up!
